DIY Mother’s Day Carnation Card (Free Printable)

Can you believe it’s already May?!

With spring in full bloom, I’ve been squeezing in some new creative projects whenever I get a free moment — which isn’t often between caring for my two littles, running the shop, and jumping in to help Josh with his never-ending stream of design work. 🙂

BUT… with Mother’s Day coming up, and I have something exciting to share with you today…

My very first FREEBIE!

If you’re a procrastinator like me and still haven’t figured out what to do for Mom, check out this printable DIY Mother’s Day card!

It will require a bit of cutting & glueing, but chances are you’re looking for something that takes a little time or effort and says “I did all this for you because you deserve it!”

When I thought of what flower to try to make, my first thought was a carnation.

Why?

Because I’m Japanese — and in Japan, we traditionally give carnations to our moms on Mother’s Day. I recently looked it up and learned that pink carnations symbolize “a mother’s undying love.” How special is that?

Tools

Steps

  1. Print the  Printable out on a card stock paper, and cut along the solid lines.
  2. Fold in the petals and curl the edges with some kind of stick (I used the end of a paint brush)
  3. Glue the flowers together stacking with the large one on the bottom, and the small one on the top.
  4. Fold the card in half (you can score along the dotted line), Arrange the leaves and glue them on to the card, and glue the message in the inside of the card.

And there you have it!

I’d love to hear if you try it and made it for your Mom!

Happy Mother’s Day!
