Beach Themed Baby Shower!
Hope you had a good Mother’s Day Weekend!
It was a really exciting weekend for us because we hosted a baby shower for our dear friend Marie who’s having a baby boy!
Per her request, it was a Beach theme, and after lots of planning and making, I think we did a pretty good job! The tricky part was to make it a “beach” and not an “ocean” or a “luau”.
The focus was put on waves instead of ocean (like animals), and tried to tie the theme together with a use of different tones of blue, or ombré, with a touch of green & sand color.
I might do some more detailed posts later on, but for now, I want to share the final product of what we’ve been working on for the past couple of months!
**I’m purposely not posting pictures or details of the guests and the mom-to-be to protect their privacy**

This was an idea that kept morphing until I forgot what my original plan was, but I’m super happy with how it turned out. It was a vertical hanging display, so it swayed and twirled gently with the ceiling fan, giving it a wave-like movement. Thank you Erika & Yuko for hours of cutting and stitching the pieces together!

What’s a baby shower without a diaper cake? Erika is such a talented diaper cake designer. She nailed it!

I’ve always wanted to design my version of the the trending hula hoop sign, and I’m pretty happy I tried! I completed the look with cut out paper tropical leaves and an c shower curtain bought at Target (no longer available).

Thanks Noriko for making these adorable marshmallow pops!

I didn’t have a go-to person to make custom cakes this party, so nervously I stepped up and made a wave cake.
Even though I made mistakes that could have turned into a disaster, (like forgetting to put sugar in while making meringue), somehow this cake came together in the end! I call it my “miracle cake”, haha!
If you’re curious, I made the wave part with a paper cup cut and glued like a wave shape.

Our circle of friends consist of amazing cooks, so potlucks are always the way to go!

This wave photo prop was made by local artist Shinya, and this was hands down the coolest part of the party. The kids and adults had a blast posing for a shot.
I get many request for a tutorial for this, but unfortunately we didn’t document the entire process. However, here’s a photo of one step which might help if you are interested in figuring it out.
Shinya used the largest Cardboard box sizes sold at home Depot, and LOTS and LOTS of hot glue gun.
Josh had an idea of playing some kind of wave video on TV, and we found a great YouTube video that plays 3 hours of beach scene. I was thinking the black tv is kind of distracting from the rest of decor, so this was a great idea that helped set the theme. We also played beach boys songs in the background too, which is still playing over and over in my head two days later.
This was a super fun party to set up and we were so happy that everyone especially the mom-to-be had a good time.
Special thanks to the dream team for all your contributions and creativity in making this amazing party happen!

Can you make me the wave wall decor? How long would it take? How much would it cost, for the size you show in the pictures?
I’m sorry, the wave decor is not for sale. It’s pretty simple to make though, I’m hoping to post a tutorial sometime. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Did you make the wine/chocolate pineapple? If so do you have “how to “instructions?
